Moving interstate … in australia?

My husband and I are thinking of moving interstate, from victoria to queensland later this year. Does anyone know of a good website, or just have good advice on this move. Eg … finding a home to rent prior to going up there … is there a good agent to help with this? And, a good removalist?
Any other advice, or suggestions on good housing areas, close to brisbane but perhaps with some acerage? We have a one year old, and sort of dont want a massive hassle when we get there. I know there will be! BUt want to minimise it a little bit. Moving is horrible.
Definately need acerage … have 4 horses to move also, forgot to say. No, to mariemlm, daycare is unimportant, as I am a stay at home mum. We understand the water shortage situation, as we are country people, thankyou for your insight.

so in brisbane? i moved up here with my mother about a 1/2 year ago
i suggest if you want acherage you try maybe manly west, there are some nice places there
as well as belmont
that is about 20 minutes from the city
the further away from the city the cheaper the rent is
at the moment the rent for a 3 bedroom house in an estate is about $400 a week

    The only info I can offer is to choose a removalist, and make sure you insure the load. From personal experience, where things went missing, things got damaged or broken, I tell people to be extra careful with who they use. Try to use one of the bigger companies that have insurance and a reputation of quality service.

    Why not get the Courier Mail on Saturdays for a few weeks? You can get it in big newsagencies in Melbourne or you can read it on line at http://www.couriermail.com.au. If you get the paper, you can investigate land and house prices at your leisure without having to make a decision immediately. Get a Brisbane street directory and check where the places for sale are. You are going to need the directory anyway when you get up there.

    first of all – brisbane has the highest water restrictions in all of australia (you are restricted to using 140 litres water per person per day) plus the roads are one giant parking lot.
    suggest you visit first and take a good look around – also suggest you rent/buy within a half hour drive of your work – the traffic gridlock is really bad, will get worse before getting better – so they say – in a few years time.
    are you sure you want acreage with a 1 yr old – or is daycare more important?
    removalist – stick with a national company & get insurance.
