into our own house, but dont have many furniture possessions to move. As all our rented places have come fully furnished we only have all the electrical stuff (tv, computer, sound system, etc). We’ve already started buying stuff- we’ve bought a sofa but that will be delivered in 12 weeks ( and we’re moving in 2) we’ve bought chairs for the living room so at least we have SOMEWHERE to sit, we’ve got the fridge, washing, dishwashing, but no beds as of yet and im just thinking- are we wasting our time buying stuff for the kitchen when we dont even have beds? What are we ment to sleep on the first night? And the beds all get delivered so…the first night WILL be spent without a bed lol. not the perfect situation but what can we do to make it easier? Do we sleep in sleeping bags? or blown up mattresses? Any advice will be appreciated . Many thanks.

Think of it as camping…especially if you have little ones. The best advice I have and I have moved many, many times is to pack a starter box. Put in this box everything you need for your first morning…coffee, tea, medication, aspirin, sugar, silverware(1 per person), plate and mug, important snacks, alarm clock, toilet paper etc……

Moving is such a nightmare. I bet on the first night, you’ll be so knackered that you won’t care where you sleep! Invest in a couple of sleeping bags and inflatable mattresses – they’re not too bad and will do until your real bed arrives. They’re also portable, so you can pump them up wherever there’s room between boxes in your house!

We did the same thing last year – for a bit of money an IKEA fouton costs about £30 and is good to sleep on for a good while (we used ours for 2 months) and can be used as a settee aswell during the day.

Dont worry everything will come together in the long run it takes time to get sorted in your house. As for the Sleeping arrangements well why not just put a duvet on the floor and have another one to cover you up snuggle up and enjoy each others company!!
