If your not going to be moving for a couple years thats no reason to not get a cat. Just give the kitty love and don't shelter it and when you move just do things to get the kitty used to the new place like taking them there before hand so they can get used to the new home. Just follow standard steps when moving like putting kitty in the bathroom untill everything is done and you'll be fine.
References :
Nothing should stop you from getting a cat. It's a common misconception that cats are more attached to their homes than their owners. The only thing that might stop the cat going with you is if you mistreat it - and why would you do that it you really want a cat? If/when you do move house, make sure that puss has all his toys and bedding with him, so that he can immediately mark the new territory as his. (No, I don't mean spraying).
References :
I've moved 6 times with my cats (and dogs) over my lifetime - so far. Moving is no excuse to either give up a pet, or not get a pet. Cats (and dogs) do fine with moves. It sounds as though your boyfriend doesn't want a cat, and is using that as an excuse. The fact that he doesn't want a cat is a good reason to not get one, moving in a couple of years is not.
References :
many years of cat rescue (and moving)

it depends on how far your moving. what i mean is that some animals can,t stand going long distances. but if you can find a cat that don,t get sick traveling then i can,t see why you can,t get 1 now and take it with you.
References :
I don't see the problem except it sounds like your boyfriend doesn't really want a cat. We only had our cats for a year before we moved and they had no problems adapting. I had an older cat years ago and when I moved with him he took about a week to come out from behind the couch but he adjusted fine after a few weeks. Of course all my cats are indoor cats and you must be much more careful if you do let them out accidentally.
