When moving from the UK to south australia do you have to start driving lessons all over again?

Hi, I’m moving to Adelaide from the UK at the end of august. I’m currently taking driving lessons in England and have passed my theory test but have not yet taken my practical test. Will i be able to take my test as soon as i get to Australia or will i have to start again from L plates? Thanks.

You will have to do your tests again because our road rules and regulations are different from the UK. and yes I would say you will go onto P plates as you have not actually had a drivers license yet

How to deal with moving to a different town?

Ok Im going into 8th grade this year and Im in middle school.My mom is planning on us moving to a different town.The problem is,is that all my friends and family live in Ottumwa(where I live right now,which is in Iowa).
I really dont want to move especially since Im leaving my friends and family behind.I dont really have a choice but to move so how can I deal with this??

Be brave this is America & you can see people are
moving from one country to another and they leave everything they ever know behind & they arrive in
America and they have to learn a new language
and meet new friends .can’t you do that ?
LUCKY YOU ! you don’t have to learn a new language because the place that you moving
to speak English as well .you’re going to love it .

Hi,
Moving from Adelaide to Brisbane in a month’s time. A little stressed over the relocation matter as i dont feel convinced after browsing internet many hours to come across a reliable removalist company at a cheaper price. I have quite tight budget and I want to get a rough idea of how much a removalist will cost to move a standard 2 bedroom house furniture. I only have all those furnitures and white goods just nice for a couple. Can anyone who has done a recent move help me with this? how much did it cost you and any recommendations for a reliable and cheap removal company? It will be very valuable at this point of time. I have to move furniture one level up, within the same house. What moving company would do such a small job, and what would be a fair price (maximum 2 hours work)? In the metro Detroit area.

Me and my husband are planning on moving to Australia next year and I was wondering about the cost of moving our stuff over there. We’re living in the UK at the moment, and we wouldn’t be taking any furniture or big stuff. Mostly it’s just books/dvd’s/clothes/knicknacks kinda stuff. So my questions–
Can anyone reccomend any overseas removalist companies?
Any rough estimates on price?
How do you package your stuff? In cardboard boxes or what? Where can you get these from? Do removal companies supply them?

There are a number of removal companies that do international removals, Pickfords is one that comes to mind, and you’ll find them listed in the phone book – just look up ‘furniture removalists’ or ‘removals’.

These companies will sell you the properly sized cardboard packing boxes and you will have a choice of packing yourself, or getting the company do it for you at an additional cost. It’s probably better for them to pack as any breakages will then be covered by insurance.

If you haven’t got accommodation arranged at the time the goods arrive in Australia, the removal company can arrange to have everything stored until you have a place.

Costs will depend on the number of cartons etc that you want moved, where you’re moving from and to, and the time you want them delivered eg do the goods need to be flown out or can they go by sea. You really need to get a quote from three or four companies and then make a decision.

Get quotes now, but don’t lock in a company until you know your visas are OK and travel dates are firm.

my car battery went flat and now i need a radio code. Im driving from melbourne to brisbane in 2 days time and dont want to drive for 19hrs without music. My car manual is in a box on the back of a removalist truck

the dealer will have the code, they will need your VIN and you might have to go in to show proof of ownership.

And do not try to guess the number, you only have 3 or 4 tries then it will lock you out and your troubles really begin.

I move my cats around twice a year between my summer home and my winter home. When we first started doing it, we were nervous about how they react to the change. We kept them inside for as long as we could, so they could adjust to their new "home". When they finally ventured outside, they knew where their home was.

you should have everything transferred over, less hassle and no new fees. Now if you where dissatisfied with their service then cancel and start over.

When moving home "approx 3 miles", Do I need to change my G.P?

We are moving home and have been informed we have to change our G.P.It is approx 3 miles away, with easy access. We thought that.we now had a choice? Could anyone advice the correct procedure? Are we legal bound to change the G.P we have been with for many many years?

GPs in the UK have a geographical catchment area, and are not obliged to take, or retain, patients who live outside of that area. You can always ask. I moved outside my GP’s area, but had been very satisfied with her. I asked her to consider keeping me as her patient, and she checked her geographical boundary and said she would retain me, as I fell outside by just a few yards.

You can also voice your concern to your local PCT.

To be a "removalist" you have to be a medical doctor.
