What do you say to the assumption that the adds you are running are untruths by omission. Sure you can not be sacked if you don’t want your penalty and overtime rates removed, but the truth of the matter is the employer, after your removal of unfair dismissal laws, can sack workers under any other pretence. Sneaky hay!!! But I am sure you knew that all the time. I know there are laws around the numbers of employees a company has to impact on the law but really it is only the small firms who try this on seemingly with your approval and encouragement.
My second question is will you be crying and blaming the states when the removalist van is taking your stuff out of The Lodge and Kirribilli House. I won’t be, I will be doing cartwheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I see your question as more of a statement from you rather than a question…but..I also think along the samr lines…what the adds do not tell you is that if you do not sign the new workplace agreement that you company does then they can just not employ you. You don’t like what they have to offer and do not want to sign then they can just say that they do not have a position for you. It happened in my old work place. We are all held up for ransom.
I’m thinking of moving from Melbourne to south-east Queensland and I want to get a rough idea of how much a removalist will cost to move a house full of furniture. If you’ve done this move recently, how much did it cost you and any recommendations for a reliable and cheap removal company?
Don’t suppose I can change your mind about that, LOL?! (I left SEQ for Melbourne…)

If so, how did you move your belongings? By removalist, container, or diy? How would you do things differently next time?
Yes, I have moved state to state several times, and have always used a removal company.
Using a reputable removalist is much less hassle.
Just make sure you have all your insurance etc in place.
I always takes precious photos and important papers with me. They do not go on the truck.
If you haven’t moved for some time, having a garage sale prior to moving is a good idea.
No point in paying someone to move items that you no longer need or want.

My husband and i and our kids are looking to move inter- state and would love to hear what you think would be the best way to go about it? Its about 1000ks away and we have family there but are having trouble finding a removalist that doesnt cost an arm and a leg. has anyone else done this and how did they do it?
Get your family to chase up removalists in the area that you are moving to and tell them you are after a back-load, this is much cheaper as the truck is full both ways, or check out how much it would be to send a shipping container interstate, you can buy or hire them easily and they make a great shed afterwards if you buy one, you could also check out the price of hire for a tilt tray truck and take the container there yourself.
Good Luck at this stressful time and try not to fight too much.
my mum is on a pension and needs to move out of her old house in Lismore and is planning to move down to Wollongong dues to domestic violence. Her problem is she does not have enough to pay for removalist fees for the move. what she would like to know is there a organisation in australia either government or charity or benifit she can apply for or ask to receive relocation assistance. she does not want to just leave all her stuff behind.
Try your local church….They may move her for free…
I’m moving house soon and am looking to move a single bed, computer desk, portable heater and fan, small tv, bicycle, clothes and not much more.
Any idea for a cheap removalist in Perth? Given the prices I’ve found so far to move my crappy belongings, it’d make more sense just to give it away to charity and get them to take it away!
just ask one of your friends or relatives that have trucks to help you..
we are moving from melbourne to perth on the 27/9/08 and want to share the removalist costs with somebody,if anyone is interested please contact me,thanks
Ring around some of the removalist companies and ask if they do ‘backloads’ ,,this should make it alot cheaper for you.
I don’t have a lot of stuff to move, not nearly enough to warrant getting a removalist, but maybe a four or five boxes and a hundred kilos? maybe half that again? What’s the best way to move my stuff to Glen Innes and still be cost effective
* when you drive down take it will you in your car or even hire a trailer.
* find out how much it wuold be to send each box through australia post. Their website actually has how much it would cost for different size packages to different places in oz.
* use a backloading company. what this means is a big semi trailer that drives through can make some extra cash when it’s loads not full. You just throw the stuff in the empty or only half full trailer and they take if down for some cash. Super cheap for whole removals but not sure about a few boxes.
* apart from those there’s always an add in the mackay paper for some extra money for someone to take a few boxes with them when they travel downsouth. Not heaps safe but super super cheap. Advertise in backpacker hostels too as they always need some extra cash but only even pay a bit up front and most when they drop off.
GOOD LUCK
