One of my girlfriends are in a bit of a situation, and I want to know what you think. Her husband works away a lot,he’s a truckdriver/furniture removalist. On numerous occassions she has found porn in his truck when he gets home. Then one time she also found out that he had also been to a strip club with some workmates. The straw that has broken the camels back is that twice she has found girls underpants in the truck.Of course she freaked out,and after pushing him he said that him and the boys he works with take them from customers they are moving as a joke.
Are we the only ones that just think this is completely ridiculous and unlikely? What is your take,as men,on what is going on here? What do you think she should do or handle it?
Also,do you think there is any chance at all that he is just stupid, but it may actually all be pretty innocent?

Your girlfriend husband should be more stuck on his wedding vows and not be a free man. He has a wife at home who loves him very much and gave him her heart for the rest of their life together, also she is willing to carry his children for nine months. This man should stop and think about what (HE could be threw away) by going to stripe clubs, Having other women panties in his truck there is a problem there, he is most likely cheating on her. The porn he should at less ask his wife to watch it with him so the could send time together. But the other two problems can KILL a marriage in a hurry. Your friend needs to think about what she really want to do with her marriage and he need to think about is actions toward his wife and how his behavior has hurt her feelings and her trust for him. I love my wife with the most deep respect I have as a Firefighter/EMT, and as a warehouse worker for Pepsi of America I would not think of doing that to my wife. Good Luck!

I have a small, harry birthmark roughly as wide as a pencil’s eraser. (a tiny bit smaller though) It only sticks out a little, it’s not like a "hanging mole". Can I go to a mole removalist to get this birthmark removed? On average, how much would it cost? Any extra info I should be aware of? Thanks :]

Go to your dermatologist. If you have health insurance, it should only cost however much your co-pay is. It probably depends on your insurance though. The dermatologist can do the procedure in his office. I have had four moles removed. Each time, the doctor injected the mole with some type of medicine. It did not hurt at all. The mole enlarged and was "shaved" off with a razor. The procedure was painless, and I do not tolerate pain very well, so it was definitely painless. You can shower and everything, but I would keep a band-aid on it until it totally heals, because it sometimes itches. If you pick at the scab, the scar will be more pronounced. Also, the mole could grow back, but mine never did. Hopefully this helps

My husband and I are thinking of moving interstate, from victoria to queensland later this year. Does anyone know of a good website, or just have good advice on this move. Eg … finding a home to rent prior to going up there … is there a good agent to help with this? And, a good removalist?
Any other advice, or suggestions on good housing areas, close to brisbane but perhaps with some acerage? We have a one year old, and sort of dont want a massive hassle when we get there. I know there will be! BUt want to minimise it a little bit. Moving is horrible.
Definately need acerage … have 4 horses to move also, forgot to say. No, to mariemlm, daycare is unimportant, as I am a stay at home mum. We understand the water shortage situation, as we are country people, thankyou for your insight.

so in brisbane? i moved up here with my mother about a 1/2 year ago
i suggest if you want acherage you try maybe manly west, there are some nice places there
as well as belmont
that is about 20 minutes from the city
the further away from the city the cheaper the rent is
at the moment the rent for a 3 bedroom house in an estate is about $400 a week
good luck :D

I am currently employed by a small business.
THE company is a furniture removalist company with 2 employees which is me and the boss. The work has gone downhill in the last 6 months.I told him i need to find more work.I dont want to leave as i have worked with him for the last 10 years are there any grants that he can apply for that will help him keep me employed?

Unless his business includes developing or exporting agricultural goods, including food and forest product. Another exception could be the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs http://www.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbaprograms/sbir/index.html , which fund the research and development of technological innovation that meets specific government needs.

It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for starting a for-profit business.

Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html

"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."

Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov – these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.

Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business — THERE’S NONE.
http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALOG.BROWSE_BENEF_RPT.show

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT – Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women’s Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women’s business center that will train women entrepreneurs

I suggest your boss looks for other sources of funds to keep his business afloat.

we dont have much stuff…… if possible we would like to move his car too, we are going from queensland to sa. can anyone reccommend a good removalist or even cheap truck hire please thank you……

Cheap removalist’s tend to break and lose things and dont have insurance. or they can hold your furniture hostage until you pay them more money or you wont see your furniture again. so you pay them a lot more money and you get your furniture. It’s best to do what the person above Say’s and to sell your belongings and buy new thing’s when you get to your new house. You could try shopping at somewhere like Ikea for cheap furniture and gradually buy better furniture.

Working as a removalist (or mover) in San Francisco recently, it has come to my attention that many people I have helped are leaving the area for–out of all places–Utah. What is it about Utah that makes it so intriguing?

Utah is actually a great place to raise a family or retire.
1. Utah is cheaper. You get more for your money. Bigger houses for the price of a small apartment in the bay area.
2. They are very conservative (which most bay area residents are not) but that means less government involvement in their daily life (take that for what it is worth)
3. A lower density of people, a lower crime rate. The biggest problem is traffic accidents, which are quite a few because Utah does have bad drivers.
4. Nature. They are surrounded by mountains and lakes. Beautiful snow covered mountains in the winter, green mountains in the early summer.
5. Salt Lake County is less than 40% Mormon. Which is where most of the population lives. So people who aren’t of that faith don’t feel uncomfortable in that environment.

Those are the major reasons. Unless you are in need of bright lights and lots of activity (found in cities like San Francisco and New York) most people can find at least one appealing aspect of living in Utah. It gets a bad rap, but actually worth trying.

i have just moved house and gone through 2 weeks of problems with real estate agents who dont know the law and i had to take action with a small claims court, a furniture removalist who charged twice as what they quoted, a telephone company that took 2 weeks to connect a land line to a house and took 3 attemps to get it right, repaire men who look at the problem and say gee i dont think i can fix that and to top it off go to a restuarant after making a booking arrive with drinks and be told sorry we didnt write your booking down and no table available, do others experience bad service everywhere they go or my standards to high! GEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Well you’re not nuts. I get bad service a lot. But not all the time. Some friends call me overly-cautious, because I make tons of calls and confirm everything. Because I KNOW they’ll screw it up if I don’t. That shouldn’t be happening in the service industry. I know, I’ve worked with the public.

Go to ebay.com.au click Buy – Services – Transportation,Shipping. Then just click on QLD and you’ll find a few removalists that are willing to move/deliver just one item.
You don’t need to sign up to ebay as these listings are classified ads and they all have phone numbers/email address for you to contact them for a quote.

A removalist is loading five boxes onto a truck. Each has a mass of 10kg and a height of 30cm. The tray of the truck is 1.5m above the ground and the removalist is placing each box on top of the previous one.

What is the total work done by the removalist in lifting all the boxes onto the truck as described?

The answer i get is 441 J, but the textbook says 1029 J. Any help with this one is appreciated :)
Thank you very much, both of you (but particularly Fred)

:]

Work = m*g*h (let’s use 10 for g…your book may use 9.8 m/s^2…we’ll soon see).

Here is a nice fast solution:

Each time we add a box, we need to lift it up 1.5 meters then 30 cm more for EACH new box. We can express this mathematically as…

WBox n (the work needed to lift up the n’th box)=

10*10*(1.5 +.3(n-1))= 150 + 30(n-1) = 120 + 30n

We want the sum of the first five of these…

5*120 + (30+60+90+120+150) = 1050 Joules

Yep, your book uses 9.8. OK? You get 5*117.6 + 29.4 + 58.8 + 88.2 +117.6 + 147 = 1029 J
==============================================
EXTRA CREDIT:
Now let’s be fancy (and also use 9.8)….The fancy part is invoking the equation for an aritmetic sequence so that IF they asked for 50 boxes instead of 5 we could get the answer WITHOUT having to do everyone seperately…which is a drag…’cause there are better things to do in life!

10*9.8*(1.5 +.3(n-1))= 117.6 + 29.4 n

Summing up a bunch of these is the same as multiplying 117.4 by whatever number of boxes you are loading and then adding on the sum of an aritmetic sequence.

To sum the first n terms of an aritmetic sequence (where d=29.4=the difference of adjacent terms), use the formula

Sn = 1/2 n (a1+an) where a1 = 1st term and an is the nth term…we want to sum 5 terms, so a1=29.4 and a5 = 147 = 5th term, thus S5 = 441

441 + 5 * 117.6 will be our answer which is 1029 Joules

which is what your book lists as the correct answer.

EDIT: Do not include a whole bunch of decimal places like my friend below me. It is incorrect. (See "significant figures" in your textbook). In reality the answer (to two sig. figs. is 1030J) if you want to be a stickler.
