Archive for Moving House

I’m looking for any tips on either a house demolition or a house moving. The ranch style house was built in the 60’s. It’s dry and in good shape. I have a price for demolition and removal. It would be nice to move the house intact somewhere else. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

buy a piece of land and have the house moved

House moving is a remarkable experience. Share me your good and bad experience and what factors I have to consider before moving.

I Moved my house . The building was of 1946 construction and remains 55’ long by 34’ wide. The structure weighed some 225 tons (450,000#), roughly half a million pounds, the two story, brick veneer structure had to be moved some 165’ from its original lot to another contiguous property and raised some 20’ higher than it had been. It was under the supervision of Wolfe. They made my moving experience a memorable experience.
here is the picture of this move.
these things you have to consider before move
1. How big is your home? Generally speaking, small one-story homes will be the easiest, and therefore cheapest, to move.
2. Bigger structures are possible to move-nearly anything is-but you need to make sure that the structure is sound. It’s a big undertaking and will place a lot of strain on the floor joists and frame of the house. And if anything goes wrong in the move structurally, then the costs will be higher to make sure that the home makes the journey in one piece.
3. How far are you moving the house? What is the commute like? Is it long and straight or curvy and bumpy? Are the roads along the way wide enough to accommodate your home? Your answers will determine how involved and costly the move might be.
4. Utility companies will likely be involved, to move power lines and other public utilities out of your way as the house is being moved. Map and measure your route, determine which power lines or other hindrances will need to be moved, and then contact your local utility companies to find out how much this will cost.
5. Also, if you’re not doing the work yourself, don’t forget the contractors who will need to come in and take down the wiring, plumbing, drywall and other home systems-as well as put it all back up once the house has been moved. This includes preparing the foundation and support systems at the new site.
6. Lastly, make sure you talk with your insurance professional, as well as city representatives who can help you with permits, planning and building and insurance requirements.

Other then hire a bunch underage kids and tell them that in exchange for their help moving you will buy them a micky of their choice, cos we already did that.

(I really do want help for this though)

Fake being ill and let your husband do all the work.

plus 2 other corgi reg firms, would you sell house as without gch or install new system costing thousands,my dilemma.

I work in an estate agents, and I think you should bite the bullet and have a new heating system installed.
You won’t get back what it costs in added value to the house, but without it prospective buyers will be put off and if they do offer, they will probably knock off more than the amount the system cost you.
Plus, it will show up favourably on your Energy Performance Certificate in you Home Information Pack (assuming your property needs one)

We are going to be moving within the next 6 weeks and have 2 cats that are indoor cats. Our new house has a garden and we want them to go out how do i introduce this with them? If they want to go out? How long should we be in the new place before trying. Also we would want to protect them against getting flees what is the best thing to use for this? Do the cats have to have injections when they go out? I want to do this properly because we have a young baby and dont want the cats bringing home flees etc. Thank guys

When you move to your new home, I would give it about a week or so before letting them out–cats have a strong homing instinct, so if you let them out too soon, they may try to find their way back to their old house. When you do decide to let them out, I would monitor their first few visits, to make sure they know their surroundings and that they know that this is "home." if they appear hesitant to go outdoors, try tempting them with some food or a favorite toy–this is usually enough to encourage a cat to come out.

As far as injections, it is a good idea for the cats to be up-to-date on their shots before they even step foot outside–with a young child, this makes that even more important that they be up-to-date. As far as flea prevention, you should probably buy a flea collar, and/or use a topical solution designed to prevent/kill ticks and fleas, such as Frontline Plus. To beef up the protection, it might not be a bad idea to use both a flea collar and a topical solution, that way the protection against fleas and ticks is maximized. You will probably have to reapply the topical solution every month or so, and the collar will need to be replaced every 3 to 7 months (depending on what one you buy.) But if you stick to a good prevention routine, fleas and ticks shouldn’t be a problem. Good luck!!

I am going to move very soon. Facing so many alternatives, I don’t know which house mover I should choose. Could you tell me what I should notice in selection. thank you.

Simply ask for references. Also a good method to check them out is to ask them for the address of one of their current jobs and observe them at work. If you like what you see, then go forward. Finally if you want the simplest method, ask a local real estate agent at one of the smaller firms in your neighborhood. They always know the scoop on who’s good and who to avoid. Hope that helps!

i am getting ready to move house soon and im not sure how to get my dog ready. he has never spent a night away from me and my partner but we have to leave him at dog boarding for a couple of nights, and im worried he could come back mentally scarred :( what is the best way to get him ready, besides leaving him at the kennels for a few nights before we move? and when we drop him off there, what should we do/leave for him e.g. toys etc. before we go? thanks!

I hope you checked out this kennel before hand. If not, then you should. That will set your mind at ease a little. And if it is just for a few nights, he will be fine. I would not bring any of his toys as another dog may take them from him and that may not be good. I would leave a blanket from your house with your scent on it.

Good luck with your move.

having a party soon before we leave so we’v got to have certain things, what would you pack two weeks before moving house???

First I pack everything that I will not be needing into totes: such as books, all clothes (except what you will be wearing for 1 week, its easier this way), all movies, all bathroom stuff and cleaning stuff (except what you will be using for the last week), and make sure all your utilities are covered! Basically make sure all your mail is forwarded to a new mailbox! A few days before you move, pack your kitchen and only leaving what you NEED out. On the last day, you should be all set and only having to pack whats left, which should be basically very little!!

I am moving apartment by myself and needs to carry heavy boxed downstairs and to my car. As I have very very tiny apartment, I don’t want to hire a professional moving company. Is there any way I can find someone help me move my boxes from home to my car?
