About a year ago I moved into an apartment that has a problem with german cockroaches. I’m going to be moving soon and am VERY worried of unknowingly taking these nasty critters to the new place. What can I do to prevent this? I’m afraid they may crawl into the moving boxes. Will tape around all edges prevent that?
Also, I’m worried about my new place having a roach problem that I don’t know about. Are there any obvious signs of a roach problem when viewing apartments and houses?
the best thing to do is just extra careful when packing and sealing the moving boxes..the droppings of the German roach will be almost a rough paste like texture up in areas they hang out…the dropping the other poster was talking about (loose pepper looking material) is the droppings from the large outdoor roaches. Here is a picture, though not the best of German roach fecal matter around the hinge of a cabinet. http://www.arrow-pestcontrol.com/groach5.JPG here is another pic of their frass (and a couple of roaches) on a dishwasher door. http://www.arrow-pestcontrol.com/groach3.JPG
I’m a junior in high school right now. I might move to a school about 15 miles away for my senior year. I would be fine with the move other than possibly hurting ones I’m close with. What are other negatives of moving before your senior year? Does it hurt my college apps?
Thanks.
Other than the social problems I don’t think there are many negatives, it shouldn’t hurt your college applications as long as you keep your grades up.
broke the lease on my 1st apt (couldnt afford it after all) and am moving home to my parents soon. i am worried i will lose my independence once i get back. i want to save and move out a few months from now but i’m worried i’ll get too attached to the "babying" lol! any advice on how to avoid this?
You have to understand that there are going to be rules that you are going to have to follow because you are going to be living under your parents roof so that is going to be #1 thing that will be hard to get used to. As far as them "babying" you you are the only one who can "set the limits" on what you consider to be appropriate so that you can maintain some independence and remain in somewhat of a "reality" of what it will be once you move back out. Perhaps helping to buy groceries or helping to pay bills will be something that would help. Just saving all your money wouldn’t be very responsible, paying at least something would keep you in check with the fact that you have to be a part of the "real world". Good luck.

I had home moved between 2 cities. I knew I was eligible for home moving expenses claim for myself. My question is that could my wife eligible for home moving expense claim. If yes, should we split the home moving expenses claim or can we claim some amount of home moving expenses individually? Thanks in advance.
Only one member of the family can claim the moving expenses 9the person who is moving to start a new job or attend school. That person will need to fill form T1M (moving expenses deduction)
I dont have much. I am a single person with some stuff. Fridge, Lounge, queen bed, 5 set dining. that is about pretty much what i got.
do anyone know how much for interstate removals?
I moved from Sydney to Melbourne over 10 years ago and it costed $3,000 approx. then so now?
I friend of mine hired a self drive (small) truck which you only need a car license to drive 2 years ago and I think it costed less than $1500 including insurance and his fuel. Get a few quotes from removalist or truck rentals. Or do as my brother did just sell everything and re-established himself when he got to Melb.
I moved from the east coast of Canada to the west coast to take on a different job. I had someone rent a U-Haul and drive my furniture across the country. Can I claim this and the cost of my plane ticket as a moving expense? Does the receipt need to show my name? Is there anything else that can be claimed?
According to the link below, those are both acceptable expenses.
The document also says that you are to keep receipts supporting your claim. Because you’re allowed to expense meals and the like, I don’t see how they could reasonably ask for your name to be on it. Instead, you would keep the receipts in case the CRA challenges you on the deductions.
Would you just start a new bill and pay at the end of the month? First time moving out and trying to work it out…Also we are paying the TV licence monthly, do you pay a start up fee for that or just the £12 whatever it is!!
The TV license remains the same price where ever you move too, so just ring them and update your address details. Be aware that they will not send you out a new license, but this doesn’t matter, as long as you have told them of the address change, you keep your old TV license with old address on, and once the year of that license is up you will be sent a new one. There will be nothing more or less to pay because of the move.
Utilities will not charge set up or start up fees. Just ring your old (current) suppliers as soon as possible and give them the date you will be moving out. Then on that day ring them again with meter readings. They will send out final bills, to your new address if you give it to them. If you want to stay with the same suppliers, they will almost certainly want your business and can automatically create new bills for your new place. Or, on moving into your new place, you can just ring a new supplier with the meter readings from your new house.
Your first bills will be paid in arrears. The first bill (for monthly payments) will probably be higher as it will be the from the date you moved in to the end of the first full month, for example. This isn’t set in stone and depends on what payment arrangements you set up etc.
