I hired removalists when I moved out of my old unit and these guys made 3 big holes on the walls. The apartment manager hired a handyman to fix it and he took $180 out of my rental bond. He gave me an invoice for that so I faxed it through to the removalists company.

The owner of the removalist company promised me to transfer the money to my bank account on the next day. However he has kept breaking his promises. It’s been a week waiting for the money to be transfered.

Because I don’t trust him anymore I called him today to transfer the money by tomorrow. But he said he would do it on Monday. I was god damn annoyed so I raised my voice saying transfer it by tomorrow. Then he started losing his temper, swore at me and said if he was younger he would kill me. I found no reason to talk with him any longer so I told him I would take this into the court and hung up.

What actions can I take in this case? I am really angry in that he swore at me and threatened me.

Put everything into writing, forget the telephone, send him a final "Letter of Demand" stating politely that you wish to rocover these costs from him blah blah blah…..
Make it all really polite and as formal/legal sounding as you can, then at the end ask for settlement within 14 days or you will commence legal action.
You’ll need to have copies of the invoives etc, everything you can

In Oz, you then take it to small claims court (you don’t need a lawyer), hopefully the Magistrate will award in your favour, it might cost $20 (I think)
Your nearest office of Fair Trading (in NSW) could help you with all this better than me.

You could also report his threat againt your life to the police.

If he contacts you again by telephone tell him to put anything he wants to say in writing and send it to you, as legal action is pending, don’t have a conversation with him AT ALL.

If he threatens you again hang up straight away and immediately contact the 1) the police to report the threat and 2) telstra and report an incident of telephone harrassment, as this can be used later, and phone records can be requested as evidence.

Just keep cool and be polite and confident in your writing and he’ll probly pay up quicker than you think, he is just trying you out, people like that HATE to go to court.
You could also consider writing letters to your local media, newspapers etc to trash his business if he doesn’t come across.

My Nephew wants to move his three bedroom, two bath house that has a crawl space on a truck from Georgia in the South to Newyork in the North. Can he do this? How much does it cost.Who do you ask to do this? This is a real house. It is not a trailer,Modular or factory built home.We have seen then move historic house on trucks.

It is outrageously expensive to move a whole house. Years ago, a friend moved his house to a different location on his land and it was $10,000 just to move the house, plus relocating all the utilities. I suspect that this house move would be well into the 6 figures.

There are companies that specialize in moving large structures and if he has the money, I’m sure he can find a company that will do it.

Are they gonna get stress?
At the moment they run around the garden and play almost with no boundary.
I want to move to a smaller house, still with garden but nothing like the size of present one. They are dobbermans .

I dont like to tight them. Also how to keep the smaller garden clean, as they are so used to drop their things anywhere but away from the house so can’t smell it inside the house. How do you train old dogs?

I love them so much, I dont want to give them away or to kill them. Thanks .
y_love_ted : I say I dont want to kill them, because I am afraid somebody would suggest that.
Bonzie, my gardener do pick them up, but as it is far enough from house "boundary" smell doesn’t come near the window and doors. (They poo about 25m away from doors or windows) ; When I move, it will be round about 5 to 10m away . And big dogs tend to have big piles as well . I dont know how many times a day they do it , I have no clue, I never check, if only once, may be ok.

Pls dont jump to conclusion, I do have 3 peoples to sweep my garden daily.

OMG Dobermans are my favorite!

Yes, they will be stressed…but think about it – so will you. Dogs have emotions just like people, they will do just fine after they get used to the new place.

You know the saying "you cant teach an old dog new tricks"? Thats wrong. My dog is 11 and she can still learn new tricks! The dogs will probably remember not to poo near the house, but if not you can teach them. No big deal!

I am a US citizen planning to move to Korea soon for a year. How do I go about safely moving my 3 dogs and cat over there, how much will it cost, and how do I ship them back into US? Is it even safe to bring them to Korea? I know they eat dogs there so Im sure there aren’t tight animal cruelty laws.

You need to contact the airline you are using.
They will tell you the regulations for flying with dogs and a cat.

In and out of the UK, animals are not allowed to travel in the cabin and have to go in the hold. Some airlines may allow animals in the cabin.
They need a box, a wooden or a plastic pet carrier, big enough to stand up, sit down, lay down and turn around.
The length of the box needs to be the length of the dog or cat plus the shoulder to floor measurement.
There must be airholes or grills on all 4 sides of the box and a water pot fitted to the door.
Some shreded paper and a blanket is nice too.

If they have to go in the hold, it is better to ship as freight and not baggage, airlines can lose baggage…….

Please DO NOT sedate them.
Sedatives lower blood pressure and so does altitude and they will get distressed at best and it could make the dogs ill and be much more serious for the cat.
Sedatives and air travel kills cats.
I have seen it far too many times

You need to

Check with the airline if they need to go in the hold or can they go in the cabin.
Also check what the requirements for bringing them back into the US are.
You may also need to contact the US equivilant of DEFRA.
I am in the UK and don’t know what they are in the US but over here they used to be the ministry of agriculture farming and foods and they issue import and export licences for livestock.

Contact the Korean Embassy and ask what the requirements for taking them into Korea are. (It may just be a health certificat from a vet or it may be much more complicated)

I don’t know what life will be like for them in Korea so I can’t help there.

I have a feeling this will be expensive for you with 4 animals.
It may be an idea to think of a friend or family member ho can look after them.
Maybe someone who would move into your house while you are away?

Good luck.:-)

Has anyone done this lately? I am just wondering approx. how much I should expect a removalist to cost? I have a three bedroom house but there is only my fiancee and myself- so not a full house of furniture.

Do you recommend anyone to call? Any other suggestions at all would be appreciated. Thank you.

I could imagine a removalist would cost quite a bit for such a long way.

My advise is search Google for interstate removalists and then give them a call to discuss costs.
You could also look on Yellow or Sensis.

I know that "Grace" removalists do interstate moves, however they are very expensive… they charged me $1,000 dollars for a move which was literally five minutes down the street and I also have a three bedroom home with just my boyfriend and I.
So I wouldn’t want to imagine how much they would charge for a move from Brisbane to Sydney!

If you don’t have too much furniture, you could hire a moving van from Budget. They are pretty large vehicles and look like they could fit allot of furniture in them. I have seen signs for hire from $110 per day and all you need is a class C drivers licence.
That could save you allot of money and you would be able to drop off the vehicle at a Budget location in Sydney.

Good luck and I hope you like Sydney!

my mum is on a pension in Australia and needs to move out of her old house in Lismore and is planning to move down to Wollongong due to domestic violence. Her problem is she does not have enough to pay for removalist fees for the move. what she would like to know is there a organisation in australia either government or charity or benifit she can apply for or ask to receive relocation assistance. she does not want to just leave all her stuff behind.

I’m sorry but I don’t know Australian geography (which terrorities those cities you mentioned are located in) – see if you can find something useful at this link:

Good luck!

We bought a mobile home cash and now we’re buying the land to put it on, but the land does not have septic installed yet and it will be our responsibility to install it. We could wait until we install the system, but the mobile home is being stored at $8 a day storage fee. We were just wondering if we could move the home to our land first, then hire someone to install septic later.

All good suggestions, but before you leap into the purchase of the building lot… Does the land pass a perk test? If the soil is poor, the cost of a septic system will be at least 3 times as much as it would be for a conventional style system in well drained soils. This is often a deciding factor in where to (or not) build a new home.

I am due to move house next week, I made £40000 on the house I sold, when will I get the money that I made from the solicitor?

I moved last week, I recieved the cheque from them within 2 days

When I look in the phone book or online some companies are listed as moving companies, some say moving and storage, some say transfer company. I would like to know what the difference is between a transfer company and a moving company.
Thanks !

if you look in the phone book under movers/moving then no difference. but transfer companies not under moving usually will receive freight from national trucking companies say; close to a major city because local companies have smaller trucks, know the roads better and can store freight short term. with the cost of employee benefits all companies use contractors/owner-operators. with all due respect no difference in cost between the two it’s just a name thing
